Chapter 3 is online

The story so far has included a Welcome, Introduction and the Requirements. Chapter 3, Selecting a site, is now online. This describes the different factors to consider when locating a vegie garden. Some of these were obvious at the time but others I only realised after the build.

Welcome

Hi there and welcome. I have created this online book to share my experience in edible gardening and to provide information for readers hoping to create or work on their own vegetable gardens. Maybe a blog isnt the best platform but it's free and accessible everywhere to everyone so here goes...

A few years ago, I created a fully enclosed vegetable garden incorporating organic and permaculture principles. My goal was to be self sufficient in herbs, vegetables, fruit and eggs. The goal became a reality and the success of my garden far exceeded my expectations.

Over the years, many people have asked for more information abouth the garden, its design and how it worked. There are many avenues to learn more about gardening but this book is a short cut for readers who want to create their own piece of organic paradise, particularly those who want to build an enclosure to surround their edible plants and use a rotational system of planting. For me, this design and process is the most rewarding and practical way to grow edibles on a scale that would feed a family. It might work for you too.

I've designed this blog to be like a booklet, with chapters in chronological order. You should be able to see the current chapter headings on the right side of this page. To keep up to date with new chapters as they’re published, you can subscribe - it’s no cost and free of ads. (The confirmation email often ends up in your junk or other folder, so check there).

It's always nice to get feedback from readers, sort of makes all the time writing and fighting with this damn blog software worthwhile! So feel free to comment and share the site with your friends. The writing and photos are copyright so if you want to use these for your own presentations or publications, please contact me. So let's begin. The first chapter, Introduction, is a quick overview to set the scene. 🙂
